PROBABLE CAUSE: "An inadvertent contact of the left wing tip of the aircraft with the water while making a descending turn preparatory to landing."

BOAC VC10295 viewsThis is a MAM BOAC VC10 in 1/200 scale, Registration G-ASGN. This VC-10 was hijacked after leaving Bahrain for Beirut on September 9. The aircraft landed at Beirut and was then flown to Zerqa, a military airfield 20 miles N of Amman. Hijackers from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine released the hostages and blew up the aircraft September 12 (1970).

Pan Am 747-121251 viewsIn April 1966 Pan Am became the first airline to place an order for the 747,the order was for a total of 25 aircraft,23 passenger and 2 cargo versions.The first scheduled passenger flight of a 747 took place on January,22nd,1970,from New York to London.This flight was to have been flown by the first fully certified 747,N733PA,but several hours of delays caused by two engines overheating,a backup aircraft N736PA was renamed Clipper Young American and used for this historic flight.Commanded by Captain Robert M Weeks,the flight was made in 6 hours and 43 minutes.This aircraft was delivered to Pan Am on January 20th 1970,only two days before it entered commercial service.N736PA was later renamed Clipper Victor.In 1977 she was destroyed in a runway collision at Los Rodeos airport (TCI) in Tenerife,the worlds worst aviation disaster.
